Introduction to Structural Integration

For many years I had a successful career in the corporate world as the National Director of Operations for a large law firm. During that time, I traveled constantly on “red eye” flights between Los Angeles and New York while supervising expansion of the firm from 3 offices to ultimately 150 offices.

Most body workers do not have a business background. I truly value my corporate background for it gives me great insight into the stresses that clients in that world go through daily. I’ve been there and done that!

While in my corporate job, I was involved in a car accident and sustained a whiplash injury. As a result, I suffered for 6 years and during that 6-year period, I had chiropractic and massage but nothing gave me lasting relief from the pain in my neck and lower back. I went from backpacking, running, scuba diving, etc…to doing nothing but complaining about my pain. I met my first Structural Integration Practitioner through a mutual friend and right then and there committed to doing the ten-series with her even though I had no idea what it was. At that point, I was so frustrated with my lack of progress and constant pain that I was willing to try anything. I went through the ten-series and at the end, I was completely free of pain!

Over time, I found myself more and more drawn to the idea of training to be a Structural Integration Practitioner. I attended the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado where I completed my pre-training and then in order to complete the actual training with Dr. Rolf’s two original teachers Peter Melchior and Emmett Hutchins, I transferred to the Guild for Structural Integration (also in Boulder) where I received my Certification in 1994. I’ve had a successful practice in New York City since that time.

Structural Integration is often the last stop when clients have tried everything else without success. I consider myself extremely fortunate to facilitate each client’s physical evolution through the process of Structural Integration. It’s a never-ending source of amazement to me when I see how each body can heal itself when treated as a whole.

I have always been a fan of creative expression. In my former life, I was a TV Producer for many years and produced for the Grateful Dead, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Jay Z, Beyoncé, Paul McCartney and others.

Whether producing commercials, live music specials or music videos, I saw that each project has its own rhythm and flow and that continuity connects me to Structural Integration. The body prefers to be in a fluid state and through Structural Integration, I am able to tune in to each client and discover what is happening in their body through my sense of touch. It is the flow of information through my hands that guides me along with the powerful framework of Dr. Rolf’s work.

Having seen Structural Integration work so successfully for friends and family and having experienced the transformation myself, I attended the Guild for Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado (the original school formed by Dr.Ida Rolf) where I studied under the practiced guidance of Tom Wing who is an original student of Dr. Rolf’s. Since receiving my Certification from the Guild in 2009, I have greatly enjoyed assisting clients with their personal evolution as well as expressing my own creative side through Structural Integration.
